Jose Rizal is the national hero of the Philippines. Shown here are footprint-shaped bronze markers that trace his last steps prior to his execution by Spanish authorities in 1896. His death helped pave the way for Philippine nationalism and independence.

Nifty - read a little about your subject and will have to read some more. Thanks for the photo and the history.
What a great tribute. I think these steps say so much more and have a greater impact than just a statue would.
Oh goodness. I wonder how many steps it is in all?
The emotions engendered by this picture are quite overwhelming.
The last steps are almost that special.
Impressive picture and history.
This are so evocative when you read the text.
Very compelling story, and a fantastic angle. It conveys the feeling of following the last steps. Splendidly done!
Perfect title for an interesting (hi)story. A great tribute for your National hero.
